How Long Does the Dental Implant Process Take?

If you’re considering dental implants, you’ve probably asked yourself how long the entire process takes. While the results are long-lasting and highly satisfying, it’s important to understand that this treatment requires multiple stages and patience to ensure success.

At Dental Artistry, we explain how long each phase of the dental implant process takes and what to expect on your journey to a brand-new smile.

🦷 Phase 1: Evaluation and Planning (1 to 2 weeks)

Before starting, we perform:

  • Full clinical exam

  • X-rays and/or 3D CT scan

  • Digital scans

  • Personalized treatment plan

This step is essential to assess your overall health, bone quality, and design the best solution for you.

🦷 Phase 2: Implant Surgery (1 day)

Implant placement is done in a single appointment under local anesthesia or conscious sedation. The procedure usually takes 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on how many implants are needed.

After surgery, the most important phase begins...

🕒 Phase 3: Osseointegration (3 to 6 months)

During this period, the implant bonds with the bone in a biological process called osseointegration. This step is key for long-term stability.

In some selected cases, a temporary fixed prosthesis can be placed during healing.

🦷 Phase 4: Final Restoration (1 to 2 weeks)

Once healing is complete, impressions are taken to create the final crown, bridge, or denture, which is placed in one or two appointments.

🟢 Estimated Total Time: 4 to 8 months

This may vary based on:

  • Number of implants

  • Whether bone grafting is needed

  • The patient’s general and oral health

  • The technology and techniques used

At Dental Artistry, Every Step Is Designed for Your Comfort and Success

We guide you through each stage with personalized care, advanced technology, and a compassionate approach to deliver a smile that’s functional, beautiful, and long-lasting.
